Goals & Results

What is the purpose of the IDA program?

To help low-income people build assets by developing new and different habits, becoming savers instead of consumers, and thinking and planning for the long term.

Who funds the IDA program in New Hampshire?

Federal funds are provided, along with donated funds from private and charitable organizations. Sponsors include: Citizens Bank, the NH Community Development Finance Authority, the NH Dept. of Health and Human Services, several foundations, and the federal Assets for Independence Act Demonstration Program. In total, the Community Loan Fund has raised $3.8 million for the 3:1 savings match and for operations.

Program impact

Since program inception in 2001, over 1,000 individuals have participated in the IDA program. They have accessed nearly 21,000 hours of educational training.

How to become an IDA saver
